Cultural Significance
The color palette is a reference to the colors used in Aztec culture, the cream is reminiscent of the stone carvings,
red represents divine power, green is used in the folio of creation stories to represent the earth, and blue found
in the final folio is an inversion of the color palette to hold the controversial contents. The geometric pattern used throughout the series as a visual motif reflects the details of the Aztec Calendar. The final book features a deconstructed version of the calendar, representing ruins.
